Maya Steinborn, MA

Maya approaches tutoring holistically, identifying individual needs and areas of stress to help students become confident and independent writers. Maya’s writing coaching is refreshingly innovative, incorporating techniques such as meditation and mind maps. Her background in writing advising, English and Social Studies tutoring, and student affairs gives her a comprehensive perspective on college application writing and academic essays. She finds personal narrative the key to inspiring students to become expert writers.

Maya graduated from the University of Puget Sound with honors in History and a minor in Comparative Sociology. She is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi academic honor societies. Before Puget Sound, she studied at Bard College at Simon’s Rock and UCLA. Maya is currently completing her MA in Human Rights Education and is a Speak Truth to Power lead educator with the RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights. Maya loves sharing stories about her cross-country academic experiences, long nights in the library and backpacking adventures.
